Product overview

What Tutornet does, for reviewers, partners and anyone curious.

Discovery

Students find tutors by course, university, distance, price and reviews. Course matching uses AI on course names only.

Booking & schedule

Private and group session requests, confirmations, rescheduling and reminders, next to the student’s class timetable.

Online classroom

Live video, audio and screen sharing (LiveKit), in-call chat, a shared board and shared notes. Sessions are not recorded by Tutornet.

Messaging

Text, photos, files and voice messages between students and tutors, with report and block on every chat.

Folios

Tutors sell their own study documents. Buyers can read them in the app; tutors are paid out through Whish.

Meeting places

Suggestions for public cafés and libraries near a student’s campus (Google Places), and a map to pick a place.

Tutor verification

Verification is optional and shows a badge on the tutor’s profile. There are two ways:

ID check with Persona. The tutor scans a government ID or passport and takes a live selfie in Persona’s hosted flow. Tutornet receives only the result and Persona’s inquiry ID — not the ID images or selfie.
Proof of enrollment. The tutor can upload a photo of a university ID or enrollment document instead. It is stored privately, seen only by Tutornet’s review team, and deleted with the account.

Keys and student privacy

Students’ names, photos and university stay hidden from tutors until a tutor uses a Key to unlock that student. Tutors receive starter Keys and can buy more in the app (App Store, or Whish on Android). Keys have no cash value.
