Community & Safety Guidelines

Last updated: October 7, 2026 · Tutornet (tutornet.app)

Tutornet works because students and tutors trust each other. These Guidelines apply to everyone — on profiles, in chats, in sessions (in person and online), in shared notes and in Folios. They are part of our Terms of Service; breaking them can lead to removal of content and suspension of your account.

The short version

  • Be respectful, honest and professional.
  • Meet in public places or online. Extra care with students under 18.
  • Help students learn — don’t do their graded work or exams.
  • Share only what you own. Never record or share others without permission.
  • Report anything that feels wrong. In danger? Call 112 first.

1. Respect everyone

  • Be polite and professional in messages, sessions and reviews.
  • No harassment, bullying, threats, hate speech or discrimination of any kind.
  • No sexual or romantic messages, advances or content. Zero tolerance where a minor is involved — we remove the account and report it to the authorities.

2. Meet safely

  • Meet in public places — the cafés and libraries suggested near campus are a good start — or use the online classroom.
  • Tell a friend or family member where you’re going and with whom.
  • Keep conversations and arrangements in Tutornet so there’s a record if something goes wrong.
  • Leave any situation that makes you uncomfortable, and report it.

3. Extra care with students under 18

  • Students aged 13–17 need their parent or guardian’s permission to use Tutornet, and the parent or guardian should know about every session.
  • Tutors: meet minors only online or in public places. Never at a private home unless the parent or guardian has expressly agreed.
  • Tutors: don’t contact a minor outside Tutornet, ask for personal photos, offer gifts or rides, or keep secrets with a student.
  • Parents: you can contact us any time about your child’s account.

4. Teach, don’t cheat

  • Help students understand — explain, practise, review.
  • Don’t take exams or quizzes, or complete graded assignments, for anyone.
  • Don’t share or sell leaked exams, answer keys or solution manuals.
  • Follow your school’s or university’s academic-integrity rules.

5. Be honest

  • Use your real name and photo. Describe your qualifications and experience truthfully.
  • Show up to sessions you confirm; cancel early if you can’t.
  • Write reviews only about real sessions you took part in.
  • Agree on prices clearly before a session and pay what you agreed.

6. Respect privacy and ownership

  • Don’t record, screenshot or share sessions, chats or notes without everyone’s consent.
  • Don’t share other people’s phone numbers, addresses or personal details.
  • Upload and sell only material you created or have permission to use. See the Copyright & Folio Policy.

7. Keep Tutornet clean

  • No spam, advertising, scams, phishing or links to harmful sites.
  • No fake accounts, impersonation, or attempts to get around a block or suspension.
  • Don’t pressure anyone to pay outside what was agreed or to share passwords or codes.

8. Report problems

Tap Report or block on a profile, in a chat or in a session. Blocking hides the person from you and stops new messages and bookings. Our team reviews every report and may remove content or suspend accounts. You can also email admin@tutornet.app.

In danger or witnessing a crime? Contact local emergency services first. In Lebanon, call 112 (police) or 140 (Red Cross). Then let us know.

9. What happens if rules are broken

Depending on how serious it is, we may warn you, remove content, limit features, cancel sessions, hold Folio earnings, or suspend or permanently close your account. Serious cases — especially anything involving a minor, violence or fraud — may be reported to the authorities.
