How it works
Tutornet is a marketplace: tutors are independent and set their own prices. We give both sides the tools to find each other and work together safely.
For students
- Add your courses. Import your timetable or pick your university courses.
- Pick a tutor. Compare profiles, reviews, prices and distance.
- Book and meet. In a public place near campus or in the online classroom.
- Review. Rate the session to help other students.
For tutors
- Create your profile. Courses, rates, availability and an intro video.
- Get verified. Confirm your identity to earn the verified badge.
- Accept requests. See who wants a session and confirm it.
- Sell Folios. Publish your own study material and get paid out by Whish.
Built for trust on both sides
Tutornet connects people — it doesn’t employ tutors or supervise sessions. That’s why we give everyone clear rules and simple tools to stay safe.
- Identity checks for tutors. Tutors can verify their ID; a badge shows who did.
- Student details stay private until a tutor unlocks them with a Key, so contact details aren’t handed out freely.
- Report and block from any profile, chat or session. Our team reviews every report.
- Teens need a parent or guardian’s OK. Students aged 13–17 can only join with their permission, and tutors must be 18+.
- Public meeting places. We suggest cafés and libraries near campus — never someone’s home.
- Original Folios only. Tutors confirm they own every Folio and are responsible for it.
Questions
Is Tutornet a tutoring company?
No. Tutornet is a platform that helps students and independent tutors find each other and work together. Tutors aren’t our employees; they decide what they teach, when, and for how much. See the Terms of Service.
How do payments for sessions work?
Each tutor sets their price, shown before you book. Unless the app clearly says a payment goes through Tutornet, you pay the tutor directly. In-app purchases (Keys and Folios) go through the App Store, Google Play or Whish.
Can high-school students use Tutornet?
Yes, from age 13, with a parent or guardian’s permission. Parents are responsible for supervising, and sessions with minors should happen in public places or online.
What are Keys?
Keys let tutors unlock a student’s full profile and contact details after a booking request. They keep student details private by default.
How do I delete my account?
In the app: Profile → Settings → Delete account. Or email us — see how to delete your account.
