Tutornet respects intellectual property and expects everyone on Tutornet to do the same. This page explains who is responsible for Folios and other content, and how to report content that you believe infringes your rights.
1. Who is responsible for Folios
Folios are created and sold by independent tutors. Before publishing each Folio, the tutor must accept an ownership and responsibility statement confirming that they wrote it or have every right needed to sell it, that it doesn’t copy anyone else’s work or break any rules or laws, and that they alone are responsible for it. We keep a record of each statement with the date and version.
Tutornet only hosts and sells Folios on the tutor’s behalf. We don’t create, review or own their content. The same applies to profiles, notes, messages and any other content users post.
2. What isn’t allowed
- copying or rewording textbooks, lecture slides, course packs or published solutions without permission;
- past exams, quizzes or answer keys that an institution hasn’t made public, or anything shared in breach of academic-integrity rules;
- other students’ or tutors’ notes or Folios;
- logos, trademarks or university branding used to suggest an official connection;
- anyone’s personal information.
3. Report infringing content
If you own the rights to something you believe is used on Tutornet without permission, email admin@tutornet.app with the subject “Copyright complaint” and include:
- your name, contact details and, if you act for someone else, who you represent;
- a description of the original work (and a link or copy if possible);
- where it appears on Tutornet — the tutor’s name and the Folio title, or a screenshot;
- a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn’t authorised, and that the information in your complaint is accurate and you are the rights holder or authorised to act for them;
- your signature (typing your full name is fine).
Universities and publishers can use the same address.
4. What we do
- We review complaints promptly and remove or disable content that appears to infringe.
- We tell the tutor and may pause sales and hold the Folio’s earnings while we review.
- If a complaint is upheld, the Folio stays removed, sales may be refunded and deducted from the tutor’s earnings, and the tutor is responsible for any claim, as they agreed when publishing.
- Accounts with repeated or serious violations are suspended.
5. If your content was removed
If you believe your content was removed by mistake, reply to our email or write to admin@tutornet.app explaining why you have the right to use it. We may restore it or put you in touch with the complainant. Sending false complaints or counter-claims can lead to suspension and legal liability.
